In the Deepest and Authentic Sardinia

Leaving the north-east of Sardinia, you discover an island with a wild heart, rich in traditions and magic. An itinerary along an imaginary thread, which OW can reveal to you by unraveling experiences of incredible intensity, reserved for a few.

This extraordinary world perhaps finds its most ancestral spirit in Barbagia. Descending from Costa Smeralda towards the south and entering the hinterland, you arrive in this impervious and ancient area. A region famous for its traditional masks, such as the "mamuthones", and for its Carnival celebrations, a deeply felt occasion in which the sacred and the profane mix, giving life to a unique extravaganza.

A collective ritual in which you can take part, too… only thanks to OW.

An exclusive and transformative experience that will allow you to become the protagonists of a ritual celebration: a fascinating show that tells ancient stories through costumes and mask performances. Contact us to find out more.

SARDINIA: BETWEEN SUBMERGED TREASURES AND RARE ART

Continuing the journey south, we turn towards the sea again, but a less worldly sea, more exclusive and secret, guardian of thousand-year-old treasures such as the submerged city of Nora. The city, which lies a few tens of kilometers south-west of Cagliari, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Sardinia. Founded by the Phoenicians, it then became Carthaginian and finally a very important Roman center, before ending up partly submerged.

Today, by snorkeling, it is possible to swim among Roman roads and remains.

Not far away, on the wonderful island of Sant'Antioco, our “thread” becomes thin and brilliant: it’s byssus, the silk of the sea. Obtained from Pinna Nobilis, the largest bivalve in the Mediterranean, it is a rare and precious yarn. Shiny like gold, soft but resistant, its properties were already known in ancient times. Today, the last byssus craftswoman creates works of art of inestimable value with this special material.

Contact us to access this unique experience, to discover submerged treasures and rare and precious craftsmanship that is about to disappear.

A DIVE AMONG CORALS AND EXCLUSIVE BOUTIQUES

Finally, we go up north again, along the wonderful and lush Costa Verde, and push ourselves even further up to the Coral Riviera: in the stretch of coast of about 90 km in front of the city of Alghero lives the largest colony of red coral, of the highest quality, fished in these waters and already worked by the ancient Romans to make jewels and ornaments.

Alghero also offers the possibility of shopping in artisan workshops of the highest manufacturing quality and exclusive boutiques, such as that of Antonio Marras, who has chosen his hometown as his stylistic headquarters.
